Welcome to the Highline College Communication & Journalism Department

Communication is at the core of our experiences as humans. The way that we observe the world, process our realities, and interact with one another is routed through the basic function of communication.

The Communication & Journalism department at Highline College is dedicated to advancing an understanding and examination of the essential role communication plays in the development of human interactions and relationships, within organizations and small group, amongst and between cultures, both in face-to-face settings and through digital technology. Our department is devoted to developing our students’ personal and professional communication competence.

We are committed to preparing our students to be mindful citizens in our increasingly connected world through the promotion of ethical, responsible, and effective communication. Our courses offer students historical, theoretical, and practical knowledge of communication that will be useful in their personal lives, their professional lives, and within their involvement within their communities.

The faculty of the Communication & Journalism department at Highline College are constantly seeking to enhance the experiences of our students through curricula development, the use and integration of technology into our classroom experiences, and service to the Highline community and the community at large.
